- Soul Therapy has performed for close to 1,000 wedding receptions in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast and all over South East Queensland and Asia over the years. We wish to offer you some thoughts for making your reception run smoothly & successfully. Your Entertainment: Book A Great Entertainer (If you have booked Soul Therapy already you have that bit covered)
- Try to make sure your Band is informed of when your speeches are organized, this way they can set their breaks to optimize the amount of time they are on stage for you.
- Specialist-Wedding Musicians know that your reception is not the same as playing at the local pub. Performing for your special day requires flexibility and attention to detail.
- Experienced Functions Entertainers will make sure they are able to see and hear proceeding when they finish their sets; this enables them to turn off break music for impromptu speeches or stay on top of any change in the schedule that may take place.
- A Great Wedding Band wants your event to be a very special memory and will do everything in their power to make sure that happens. If your entertainers do not have this commitment you are wasting your money.
- Great Entertainment is an important element in making your event a success, the reception venue, food, drink and beautiful surroundings, means very little if your guests are bored.
- Photographer: If your photographer is a wedding professional he will understands how to manage your photographic session so as to ensure you arrive at the reception on time. (This is the most consistent problem with receptions running late. Nothing is more frustrating for wedding & function coordinators than to have the food that you have paid for going cold or ending up over cooked.)
- Sunday Weddings: If your reception is on a Sunday try to make your finishing time no later than 10.30pm as most of your guests have to go to work in the morning (nothing makes you feel like your reception fizzled more than you being the last in the reception hall after everyone has left)
- The Bridal Waltz: The Bridal Waltz is the trigger for the party to start. "It is important!!” Your guests have been sitting eating; drinking & listening to speeches, your entertainer has been playing dinner music and the mood is mellow, dessert is finished and now your band is ready to get the party started. A good entertainer is capable achieving this; however the waltz makes the reception kick into overdrive instantaneously. The bridal waltz is like the referees whistle blowing the start of game on, it is a signal that helps your band and your guests move into party mode. Try to make it the last official thing you do because if you serve dessert or make more speeches after the waltz it is sometimes difficult to get the party started again.
- Organization: Give everyone associated with your reception a running sheet of the night’s proceedings, this way you won't have to chase anyone up on the night. (I.e. Function Coordinator, Band, M.C. etc)
- Seating Arrangements: Try to make sure your seating arrangement is well thought out; you don't want grandma sitting in front of the speakers. Try to get the biggest party animals in your guest list sitting, as close to the action as possible, they will help get things moving. These people will enjoy the music and will be the ones the band can target when the party really starts.
- Summer Weddings in Queensland: If your reception is in the middle of summer it is a good idea to consider only allowing non alcoholic fruit punches or light beer and white wine for pre dinner drinks, as the combination of the summer heat and alcohol can result in some of your guests not lasting the night. Try to ensure your reception venue is air-conditioned or you may find all your guests sitting outside leaving the beautiful atmosphere & great entertainment you have invested so much time and money in creating for your special party going to waste.
- The Perfect Day: Don't stress too much about every little thing. If your wedding is too perfect you won't have any funny stories to tell your grandchildren.

- Live Bands are not only musical they are visual; your guests are able to watch good musicians ply their craft while their ears enjoy the creativity that only live music can offer
- Live Bands are more likely than a DJ to keep your guests interested all night Professional Wedding and Function Bands have spent years developing a repertoire of the best most successful party songs of all time including the best of recent material that caters for all of your guests and they know how to use it.
- Wedding Bands ensure that song is going to work Professional wedding bands know how to get the party rolling and more importantly keep it rolling.
- The majority of Mobile DJs are part time and think the job is spinning some CDs, sometimes they have even been given a running list of music to play by the guy who owns the DJ service. Do you want this guy to be in charge of your most special celebration?
- Wedding Bands and wedding DJs are like any wedding supplier you hire for your reception you get what you pay for. I don't recommend you hire the band playing at your local pub or get some mates to play or ask some guy if he can bring his CDs and play music for you all night unless your wedding reception is a barbecue in your back yard.
- Find a band that specializes in Functions and has references. A wedding band who knows the importance of the occasion to you and will give the night the atmosphere and style it deserves Wedding receptions are not stuffy affairs but should have style and flair. A mobile DJ in the corner of the room does not spell style but screams cheap.
- I know money is tight these days for everyone, but if you weigh up the money you are spending on your wedding against what a Professional Wedding Band will cost you, the price is low and probably one of the least expensive wedding suppliers you'll hire. But most importantly, they are the ones that will make the night exiting and memorable for you and your guests,
- A Great Wedding Band should make you look good and should make your guests comment on what a wonderful night you have given them. I understand that usually by the time you get around to hiring the entertainers for your wedding reception you have spent a small fortune and are looking to save money.
- Entertainment is the most important element of the party. The entertainers you choose can make the memory of your wedding reception for your guests either ho hum or a night talked about for a long time. Which memory do you want to impart?
- Wedding Bands should not be cabaret acts but cool stylish musicians. The only difference between Function Bands and other live entertainment is they put your interests before their own. By making your wedding or function a success they have done a great job it's all about work satisfaction.
